RectoChat
RectoChat is built for private communities that want organized servers, direct messages, voice rooms, and optional Signal Mode for end-to-end encrypted conversations. If Signal Mode is off, messages are not end-to-end encrypted and are only read or acted on when needed for safety, moderation, or the greater interest of the people involved. If someone is acting like a predator, they get banned.
Only the people in the conversation can read the messages.
Stronger protection when you want it, and serious moderation when people are at risk.
Not end-to-end encrypted. Reviewed only when needed for safety, moderation, or the greater interest of the people involved.
If someone is exploiting or putting others at risk, we step in and remove them.
RectoChat still gives you the rooms, calls, identity, and controls people expect, but the homepage now leads with privacy and an honest explanation of how safety works.
Turn on Signal Mode when a conversation needs end-to-end encryption instead of relying on a vague promise of privacy.
Keep communities organized with servers, channels, DMs, invites, and clear member access instead of dumping everything into one feed.
Move naturally between text and voice while still seeing who is around and which spaces are active.
Give trusted people the access they need, keep private rooms private, and keep community management readable.
When Signal Mode is off, moderation only reads or acts on messages when people need to be protected or abuse needs to be stopped.
Profiles, badges, fonts, effects, and room styling still give your space personality without drowning out the privacy-first core.
The product reads more honestly when it speaks to the kinds of spaces that actually care about privacy, trust, and moderation.
Keep your main hangout private, run voice nights, and give the group invite-only channels that feel like they belong to you.
Hangouts, game nights, invite-only spacesWhen conversations matter more, people can use Signal Mode and still know the platform will step in if someone becomes dangerous or exploitative.
